Fellows

The Department of Anthropology, History & Social Medicine has two alternating fellowship positions, the Francis Fund Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship and the J. Eliott Royer Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship. Each fellowship is for a duration of two years.

The Department is also host to occasional fellowships offered by the University of California, including the Presidential Fellowship (see previous advertisement PDF) and the Regents' Pre-Doctoral Fellowship. Occasional fellowships are also awarded to work on grant-funded projects obtained by the faculty.

The Francis Fund Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship.
The Francis Fund provides for the support and maintenance of a fellowship in the University of California School of Medicine for study in the History of Medicine.  Individuals are required to hold a medical degree (Post-Doc) or medical students who are interested in an MA in the History of Medicine.

J. Elliott Royer Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship. A Ph.D. in history, with concentration in 18 th -20 th -century health related topics, is required. Preference will be given to historians who plan to use the archival and library resources in the Bay Area or whose work demonstrates interdisciplinary strengths, especially in history of science, history of technology, or anthropology. In addition to personal research and writing, the position also offers possibilities for limited teaching.
